The Rules Of The Game

Submissions
Submissions to OverheardAtMcGill.com, upon submission, become property of OverheardAtMcGill.com, regardless of if the quote is accepted or not.

Objectionable Content
Inevitably, OverheardAtMcGill will receive submissions that are offensive on the basis of many factors, including but not limited to gender, race, religion, political affiliation, class, sexuality, and disabilities. OverheardAtMcGill does not in any way endorse the views of the submitters, the content of the submissionsor any of the members of the overheard conversations’ beliefs.

We will not, however, censor objectionable content purely on the basis of it being objectionable. A large number of the quotes that we will receive will be objectionable; that’s half the point. Of course all ‘isms’ are stupid and infantile: racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia. People say absurd things. Sometimes they need to be laughed at for it. If you do find the material too offensive, then we recommend you choose not to return; it’s a personal choice. That said, OverheardAtMcGill.com reserves the right to not post objectionable submissions received that are not in any way humorous or entertaining, and that are judged to have purely hateful content . A more stringent policy will apply to comments; hateful content will not be tolerated. At the moment, comments are unmoderated. If this open policy proves too daunting for hatemongerers, then we’ll reluctantly switch to moderated comments.
