I can see how this could be interpreted the wrong way, but actually, most people that conduct research in pharmacology use animal models, meaning most work with animals, investigating potential effects of new compounds on animal physiology. Thus, it would not be so outlandish to say, “Oh so you work with animals since you are studying pharmacology”.
